Somewhere between “no makeup at all” and “a full set of lash extensions” sits a treatment that quietly does a lot of heavy lifting: eyelash lifting. It works with the lashes you already have, curling and lifting them from the root so they open up your whole eye area — no mascara required, no extensions to maintain, and no daily faff before you leave the house.
If you’ve never tried it, or you’ve heard the name but aren’t quite sure what it actually involves, here’s everything you need to know about eyelash lifting at Glow Room in Bristol.
Eyelash lifting is a treatment that curls and lifts your natural lashes upward from the base, creating the appearance of longer, more open, wide-awake eyes — similar to the effect of an eyelash curler, but lasting for weeks rather than hours. Unlike extensions, nothing artificial is added; the treatment simply reshapes the lashes you already have.
It’s often paired with a lash tint, which darkens the lashes for extra definition, giving a finished look that’s similar to wearing mascara — minus the smudging, the removal routine, and the daily reapplication.
At your appointment, you’ll be settled comfortably on the treatment bed, with your eyes gently closed throughout. Your therapist will place a small silicone shield against your eyelid, then carefully lift each lash onto it in an upward, curled position.
A specially formulated lifting solution is applied to reshape the lash from the root, followed by a setting solution that locks the curl in place. If you’re having a lash tint at the same time, this is applied during the process to darken the lashes for extra impact. The whole treatment is relaxing, non-invasive, and takes around 45 minutes.
You’ll leave with lashes that curl naturally upward, appearing longer and more defined — no clamping, no extensions, and no chemical smell lingering afterwards.
There’s a reason this treatment has become such a popular request at Glow Room:
This treatment suits a wide range of clients, particularly those who:
If you’re unsure whether lifting or extensions would suit you better, our therapists are always happy to talk through both options and help you choose what fits your lifestyle and lash type best.
Come with clean lashes. Arrive without mascara or heavy eye makeup, as the lashes need to be clean for the lifting solution to work effectively.
Skip waterproof mascara in the days before, as it can be more difficult to fully remove and may affect how the lashes take the solution.
Avoid lash extensions immediately beforehand. If you currently have extensions, let us know when booking, as lifting is designed for natural lashes.
Remove contact lenses, or bring a case with you, as they’ll need to be taken out during the treatment.
Because the treatment follows your natural lash growth cycle, most clients see the lift hold for around six to eight weeks before it starts to grow out. Rebooking around this time keeps your lashes consistently curled and defined.
Will it damage my natural lashes?
When carried out correctly, with the right products and timing, lash lifting is a gentle treatment that works with your natural lashes rather than against them.
Can I still wear mascara afterwards?
Yes, once the initial 24-hour period has passed, you’re welcome to wear mascara as normal — though many clients find they no longer feel the need to.
Can I combine it with a lash tint?
Absolutely, and many clients do. Combining a lift with a tint gives a more defined, mascara-like finish without any product required.
At Glow Room, precision matters — especially for a treatment this close to the eyes. Our therapists take the time to assess your natural lash shape and length before beginning, ensuring the curl and finish suit your individual eye shape rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
Lash lifting pairs beautifully with eyebrow lamination for a fully framed eye area, or with a dedicated eyelash tint if you’d rather add colour without the lift. If you’re weighing up brows at the same time, our eyebrow threading and tinting guide covers what to expect.
If mornings spent battling with an eyelash curler and mascara sound like something you’d happily skip, eyelash lifting could be exactly what you’re after — at £60 for a 45-minute treatment.
